One of my favorite things to do is find great resources and products. It can be any kind of resource from the most well designed and reliable weather app (Capital Weather Gang...but I have yet to find a reliable app) to a go-to resource for classic v-neck t-shirts (Everlane).  It can be the best pens (pilot gel pens) or the best method of making coffee (Chemex). The bottom line is that sometimes it takes a while to find good resources and I'll always try and share them with you. Can curating be a hobby?

Today's post has two spring refresh foodie products for you, just in time for finding a gift for Mother's Day or a little kitchen addition for yourself right here. First up is home grown micro-greens (YAAA!) and how you can plant them to always have them on hand to snip onto an omelette or protein. Next, is your go-to collection for lots of amazing flavored salts. Let's dive in. It's delicious in here.

I've been in major planting mode this spring. When UncommonGoods asked me to check out their latest collections I was immediately drawn to the microgreens kit. One of my regular purchases at the farmer's market is microgreens. Not only do they look amazing on a cheese platter or in a sushi roll but they are also a good nutrition resource for minerals and phytonutrients. Give them a try! I went for the veggie seed blend which has organic carrot microgreens as well as cabbage and pea greens. The box is sleek and totally fits my aesthetic (you know I'm a picky pants). It's also USA made and recycled which is a nod to UncommonGoods' promise to be environmentally friendly and to do no harm to animals or people. Many of their products are actually made by small brands and artisans which I always appreciate since my parents are artisans. My only real complaint about the planter is the base which doesn't interlock or fit under the planter perfectly (you don't have to use it to catch the water technically). One nudge and it's all messed up and sliding. If you can truly set it out of the way, it's fine but I'm not only clumsy but I have fur children so just a word of warning. Now to wait for a week and trim off the tops for ever lasting microgreens! The best part? I can continue to use the planter even after this batch of plants for more microgreens.

My second top foodie pick was the dessert and baking salts selection. I've realized that infusing flavors is a HUGE way to make a difference in a dish. To have six options at my disposal in their own containers is a fun way to change up my cooking and baking for spring. I'm obsessed with the vanilla cardamom salt which would be delicious on top of home made energy bars or granola bars. Meanwhile the rose peppercorn salt needs to be on the rim of a cocktail. I have a lot of playing to do with these flavors. Make sure you watch your fingers on the metal box it comes in (sharp edges ahoy! I think I'm just going to remove the rounds from the tin).

If you need kind of 'one stop shopping' for a few gifts for spring celebrations check out what UncommonGoods has to offer. The brand itself has interesting and well designed products, but almost just as importantly is what goes on behind the scenes. They work with American Forests to protect and restore forests all over the world as well as City Harvest which helps to end hunger in NYC communities through food rescue and education.  If you're going to make a purchase, make a purchase that will help support a company doing good in the world.
