As a born and raised Virginia girl, and as a dietitian, I have a big place in my heart for any Virginia food or beverage. Virginia has become a serious wine scene since the 80's when my Grandpa started one of the first vineyards in the area. As you can see, things have changed (massive understatement), and  Loudoun County is known as 'DC's Wine Country'.  Now a major industry, my favorite place in the world is starting a new tradition as an answer to the Aspen Food and Wine festival: Epicurience Virginia in partnership with Saveur magazine.

From August 30th to September 2nd, events will be hosted all over Loudoun County just outside of DC. Last week I attended a meeting on the details and logistics of the main event, so here's what you need to know:

The Grand Tasting will be held on the lawn of historic Morven Park mansion August, 31st. With roughly 100 vendors, your ticket will give you access to every tasting during your selected tasting time. There will also be food trucks, music and a place where you can buy Virginia wine to take home as well as other products you've tasted.

The projected ticket sale start date will be at the end of June, and it's something you're seriously going to want to jump on. Although general admission tickets are $95, Epicurience is going to be a major luxury food event.

I'll be there, rain or shine, humid as hell or perfectly picturesque!
